Kriteriene for ”The best 20” er:
”The prizes that make up ”The Best 20” are not only awarded for the high organoleptic qualities of the oils propsed to the panel of expert tasters, but are mainly based on the quality each farm has shown over the years and the added value this represents for its areas of production. The fact that, after a few months, extra virgin olive oil gradually loses its organoleptic properties, means we do not find it appropriate to give the prize to the single oil. Instead, with our “The Best 20” list, we award a ”Quality Prize” to the farms which have succeeded in optimizing the whole productive sector in the twenty categories described. Therefore we choose the best olive oil mill, that is the best producer, indicating the best of the year, ……… Then we find the best oils, the best of the year and the ones belonging to the different categories……..”
I Flos Olei 2011 har Ravidà fra Azienda Agricola Ravidà fått prisen ”The Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil Blended– Medium Fruity”. Her er hva Flos Olei 2011 skriver om Ravidà:
”Ravidà in Menfi is awarded the prize as the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil Blended – Medium Fruity. …….. There are two Extra Virgin Ravidà, the one from Organic Farming and the "basic", chosen by our panel. It is a limpid golden yellow colour. Its aroma is definite and rotund, rich in fruity hints of medium ripe tomato, fresh walnut and elegant flowery hints of lavender. Its taste is complex and strong, with flavor of lettuce, officinal herbs and a distinct finish of vanilla and black pepper. Bitterness is definite and pungency is distinct. It would be ideal on mussel appetizers, salmon carpaccio, lentil salads, stewed potatoes, bean purèe, pasta with tomato sauce, breaded fried meat, grilled fish, baked rabbit, roast chicken, goat cheese.”
